Michael Beller is a media and entertainment executive based in Washington, DC, with over 20  years of experience working with people at all organizational levels. Michael has made a name for himself as the senior business and legal manager of several major media companies and is well-known for his ability to work well with others. When working on a project, Michael Beller prioritizes dedication and insight. His most notable qualities include strategic thinking, trustworthiness, the ability to compromise, and a firm believer in collaboration, loyalty, openness, and authenticity.

Michael Beller has a diverse set of hard and soft skills that have led to his success as an attorney and business affairs executive for many notable productions. Michael’s diverse experience has provided him with a 360-degree view of the media and entertainment industries, earning him a reputation as a collaborative and trustworthy leader.

Michael has a certificate in philosophy from the Paris-Sorbonne University in Paris, France. He continued his studies at the State University of New York in New Paltz, NY, and found himself at home in the world of political science during his college years, earning a bachelor’s degree in the subject. His decision was guided by his natural curiosity, a desire to learn more about global governance, how it impacts people, and how individuals can influence progress.

His natural business experience and critical mind attracted him to the field of law as well. Michael graduated from the Communications Law Institute at Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C., with a Juris Doctor. He won the best-written brief at the annual National Telecommunications and Technology Competition and was a member of the law review, among other honors.

Michael is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, the State Bar of Georgia, and the Virginia State Bar. He is eligible for membership to the California and New York bar associations, among others. He is also a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Federal Communications Bar Association, among other organizations, and volunteers with several community organizations.

Michael started his legal career with the Washington, DC firm of Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson, and Hand specializing in communications law. He relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to work for Turner Networks as the Director of Affiliate Business Affairs. Michael honed his negotiating skills by writing deals with Turner networks’ cable and satellite affiliates. Michael also provided regulatory enforcement, contract review, and acquisition support to the General Counsel’s office.

Michael’s next job was with Discovery Communications in Bethesda, MD, as the Director of Business Affairs. For Discovery, TLC, Travel Channel, Animal Planet, and the science networks, he was in charge of writing and negotiating contracts.

Michael proudly served as Vice President and Senior Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs for National Geographic Channel in Washington, D.C., for a decade. He was in charge of all legal and business matters leading up to, and including, the launch of the channel. Michael was a vital member of the team that helped National Geographic become one of the fastest-growing cable channels in history.
